On March 4, Adam Sandler was awarded the King of Comedy Award at the 2023 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards.

Adam Sandler gave one of the funniest acceptance speeches I’ve ever watched when he received Gotham’s Film Tribute Award in 2022. He said it was written by his teen daughters. Of course, his speech at a kids’ awards show like Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards would have to be a bit more PG than this one!

Adam Sandler’s movies range from kid-friendly to decidedly not kid-friendly. You might be wondering which Adam Sandler movies have earned him so many kid-fans.

He is actually in a ton of movies that kids love. Here’s what you should know about the Adam Sandler movies that kids can’t get enough of.

Hotel Transylvania, Hotel Transylvania 2, and Hotel Transylvania 3

Let’s start with the Hotel Transylvania series. These are among Adam Sandler’s highest-rated films, according to Rotten Tomatoes — especially part 3.

In the series, Sandler voices Count Dracula, who runs a luxury hotel where creatures like the Mummy and the Invisible Man can relax and be themselves without worrying about being found out and identified by humans. The conflict of the first movie occurs when Dracula invites his friends to celebrate his daughter Mavis’s (Selena Gomez) 18th birthday — and somehow a human ends up at the celebration. This human, Johnny (voiced by Adam Sandler), quickly falls in love with Mavis, prompting a series of hijinks.

Movies 2 and 3 continue to follow the Dracula family and their experiences.

Hubie Halloween

This is one of the PG-13 movies on our list. While not strictly a kids’ movie, it does seem to appeal to tweens and young teens, in particular, who enjoy Halloween-themed entertainment that isn’t particularly scary. Hubie Halloween is rated PG-13 for “for crude and suggestive content, language and brief teen partying.”

Released in 2020, Hubie Halloween tells the story of Hubie Dubois, a local to Salem, Massachusetts, who is the target of mockery and ridicule from many of his neighbors. He loves Salem, but this year, on Halloween, he is the one who has to save the town from a very real threat.

Bedtime Stories

Bedtime Stories, which was released in 2008, was made for a family audience. It stars Adam Sandler, Keri Russell, Guy Pearce, Courtney Cox, Lucy Lawless, Russell Brand, and several other recognizable faces. Sandler plays a hotel handyman, Skeeter, who discovers that the bedtime stories that he tells to his young niece and nephew are actually coming true.

Skeeter takes advantage of this new magic skill, but that goes awry when his story gets more and more outlandish — and his life gets upended as a result!

Pixels

Pixels is a somewhat ridiculous movie, but can’t we say that about a lot of Adam Sandler’s movies? It’s PG-13 for “some language and suggestive comments,” but I would caution that some sensitive kids may have trouble with the violence. It’s not gory, but there are a lot of deaths.

The movie also stars Kevin James, Peter Dinklage, Michelle Monaghan, and Josh Gad.

Sandler and James are childhood best friends with very different life paths. James is now the president of the United States, and Sandler is a home theater installation technician. James has to call his friend Sandler to come help when aliens have misinterpreted recordings of video games as an act of war. Now, the aliens are attacking earth, using elements of classic video games. Sandler assembles a team of his old arcade playing friends and enemies to save the world.
