Starring the late Chadwick Boseman, 42 is a baseball biopic about Jackie Robinson breaking the MLB’s major color barrier in 1942. This progressive act puts both Robinson and the team in the firing line of openly racist comments and threats from the nation.
Rush
Set during the ‘Golden Age’ of Formula 1 racing, Rush brings the real-life rivalry between James Hunt and Niki Lauda to the big screen. The rivalry caused both drivers to push their teams and their bodies to the limits – until a horrific accident threatened it all.
Hustle
After Uncut Gems, it seemed Adam Sandler was having a renaissance, and Hustle seemed to confirm that. Hustle is Sandler’s ode to professional basketball and sees the iconic comedian portraying a down-on-his-luck basketball coach with dreams of bringing an undiscovered player to the NBA.
Rocky
I don’t think Rocky really needs any introduction. This iconic film propelled a homeless Sylvester Stallone’s career into the stratosphere, spawning four sequels and the incredible spin-off franchise Creed, starring Michael B. Jordan. When Daniel LaRusso moves schools, he finds himself bullied by a group of karate practitioners. Set against the backdrop of British colonialism, Lagaan is an Indian film that sees a small group of farmers make a bet with Captain Andrew Russel to stop his town from paying extortionate taxes for three years. What is this bet made over? Cricket!
Southpaw
Boxing films saw something of a resurgence in the 2010s, and Jake Gyllenhaal’s Southpaw is perhaps one of the best from that period. After losing his family and falling into an unshakable depression, former boxer Billy Hope finds inspiration in a former champion who gives him hope to get back in the ring.

Warrior is easily the best Mixed Martial Arts film ever made and stands shoulder to shoulder with the best martial arts films. Warrior tells the stories of two brothers who reunite at a lucrative MMA competition, each with the hopes of winning the cash prize and moving their lives forward. Caught between them is their former-alcoholic father, who seeks to mend the shattered relationship with his two sons.
