Carrie Coon is one of those phenomenal actors you may not have heard of — but you have probably seen plenty of times. Especially if you love dramas.

She is so good at becoming her characters that some people have trouble recognizing her from one film to the next. It’s not because she’s easy to forget, but rather, it’s because she completely embodies whatever character she is playing. It becomes difficult to think of her as anyone except the character you’re watching right in the moment!

Right now, Carrie co-stars with Kiera Knightley in The Boston Strangler on Hulu. She plays Jean Cole, a reporter who helped to investigate a series of murders in Boston in the 1960s.

Carrie Talks About The Leftovers

Carrie Coon’s Nora Durst was a woman whose entire family disappeared in a rapture-like event in The Leftovers, based on the novel of the same name by Tom Perotta.

The series finale included a long, emotionally-charged monologue from Durst. In a video from TV Guide, Coon talks about how she decided to approach the monologue, even in light of questions about whether or not the character was being truthful. It’s an insightful conversation about the nuances of truth in human experience.

That means she shares more insight about her performance of Nora Durst from The Leftovers. She also talks about how her Midwestern ethos helped her prepare for her part as Gloria in Fargo. Finally, she discusses the fear she felt while being on the big-budget movie set of The Post, which was directed by Stephen Spielberg.

Carrie Talks About Her Path to Acting (Alongside Ewan McGregor)

In a fun interview from New York Magazine, Carrie sits down with Ewan McGregor, and they reflect on their path to becoming actors. Specifically, Ewan talks about deciding to be an actor when he was a child, while Carrie’s big family didn’t have time for her to be allowed to participate in theater. She got involved in acting as a college student and never intended to “make it big” on a national level, but then a play she was in went to Broadway, and the rest is history.
