Back in March of this year, it was announced that Netflix would be producing an anime revival of Edgar Wright’s 2010 cult classic film Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. In what seems like a very short turnaround from the announcement, Netflix have now debuted the first trailer… and it’s everything fans were hoping for.

Scott Pilgrim Takes Off (the title of the anime reboot) focuses on the titular Scott Pilgrim, a 20-something bass player in a failing indie band who falls in love with a woman called Ramona Flowers. When Scott is attacked at one of his gigs, he soon learns he must defeat Ramona’s seven evil exes in order to win the life with her he desires.

One of the most impressive things about the reboot is that the entire cast from the original movie are returning to lend their voices to the anime counterparts. The star-studded cast list includes Michael Cera, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Aubrey Plaza, Jason Schwartzman, Kieran Culkin, Chris Evans, Brie Larson, Brandon Routh and Johnny Simmons.

Based on the acclaimed graphic novel by Bryan Lee O’Malley, the original Scott Pilgrim vs the World was actually considered a commercial failure when it hit cinemas back in 2010. However, incredible DVD sales quickly turned the film’s status from a flop into a cult classic.

Scott Pilgrim Takes Off hits Netflix on November 17.
