Before he became Captain America, Chris Evans had quite a few unfortunate roles in bad movies. Push (2009), Puncture (2011), and Cellular (2004) among them. Since his Captain America days, however, Evans has been able to pick up roles in movies worth his talents and charm.
Thomas Jane
When Thomas Jane gets the chance to play in a movie with a great script, he can really show the depth of his skills. Unfortunately, he ends up in the same role or with the same disappointing movies. Some of them include Slayers (2022), Dig (2022), Warning (2021).
Hopefully, he’ll finally be able to land a role that allows him to show the depths of his capabilities.
Sam Rockwell
A quick look at Sam Rockwell’s earlier films and you’ll see mostly flops. It’s a pity because the man can act. Thankfully, his recent films Jojo Rabbit (2019) and See How They Run (2022) have allowed him to show what he can do with a good script. Fans can agree that even if the movie is trash, Rockwell always delivers.
Alexander Skarsgård
Most fans came to know Alexander Skarsgård in the series True Blood (2008-2014). He was a powerhouse in that show, and once it ended, many expected him to go on and do even better things. That hasn’t quite been the case despite his incredible talent.
Movies like Infinity Pool (2023), Godzilla vs. Kong (2021), and The Legend of Tarzan (2016) fell flat despite his hard work.
Michael Fassbender
There’s no question that Michael Fassbender needs a new agent. While he’s able to land a movie worth his talents now and then, by and large, most of his movies aren’t great. Usually, the only shining light is his performance.
Some poor films that he did his best in include The Snowman (2017), Song to Song (2017), and Assassin’s Creed (2016). Someone, please give Fassbender movies worth his talents.
Samuel L. Jackson
There’s no question that Samuel L. Jackson likely chose the roles he wanted to play. Those choices aren’t always great, however, but he likely chose them to have a good time. Jackson is also always great in whatever film he’s in.
Whether he’s commanding superheroes or chasing snakes off a plane, you can always expect a great character. However, it would be nice to have him dive deep into his talents for a film actually worth his time.
Amanda Seyfried
When given an actual, meaty role, Amanda Seyfried shows us what she’s capable of. Unfortunately, most of her earlier movies were romances or romantic comedies. Her talents were wasted on less-than-stellar movies like Pan (2015), While We’re Young (2014), and Red Riding Hood (2011).
Only recently has she started receiving roles worth her talents.
Tom Holland
There’s no question that Tom Holland can act. Unfortunately, he keeps ending up playing in movies that aren’t good. Whether it’s the writing, the choice of direction, the plot itself, or his co-stars, he just can’t catch a break.
Hopefully, he’ll be able to receive a role soon that allows him to show off and support his skills.
Idris Elba
We all know Idris Elba can act. He’s often one of the reasons why people choose to watch his films or series. Unfortunately, he keeps landing roles in movies that don’t live up to his talents. The Mountain Between Us (2017), The Dark Tower (2017), and Guerilla (2017) are among those movies that just weren’t great.
His fortunes have changed recently, so let’s hope he continues to land roles in movies that do him justice.
Emilia Clarke
Her time as Khaleesi in Game of Thrones (2011-2019) showed just how talented Emilia Clarke was. Unfortunately, her time away from the show hasn’t done her justice. From failed romance films to even action films, her films just don’t match her talents.
She’s due for a break.
