Ghost Ship (2002) begins with a gruesome accident. The luxury liner, The Antonia Graza goes missing in 1962, killing hundreds of passengers. In present-day, a salvage crew led by Captain Sean Murphy (Gabriel Byrne) and Maureen Epps (Julianna Margulies) discover the long-lost ship floating adrift in the Bering Sea. Enticed by the potential fortune they could gain, the crew boards the ship, only to discover eerie remnants of the past. The film follows Ed (Patrick Wilson) and Lorraine Warren (Vera Farmiga) real-life paranormal investigators famous for their work on various supernatural cases. The story is based on the real-life experiences of the Perron family after they move into a secluded farmhouse in Harrisville, Rhode Island. Ed and Lorraine discover the house’s dark history, including tragic deaths, suspected witchcraft, and a curse that threatens the entire family. The spirits, particularly a malevolent entity named Bathsheba, become more hostile, leading to terrifying confrontations.
